Last month, Jay-Z released three videos exclusively through TIDAL from his “4:44” album, including “Legacy,” “Smile” featuring Hov’s mother Gloria Carter and “Marcy Me.”
The visual for “Legacy,” 4:44’s closing track, stars Susan Sarandon, Ron Perlman, Jesse Williams, Emile Hirsch and more. It examines the criminal justice system, a hot topic Hov continues to speak about.
The video for “Smile” features Hov’s mother Gloria Carter, and explores her past as a young woman and mother. Clocking in at almost nine-minutes, the visual touches on Gloria’s sexuality and the realization she preferred women over men.
At the end of the video, she talks about what it was like “living in the shadow” before imploring the audience to “smile.”
Finally, the video for “Marcy Me” is the shortest of the three. It shows a police helicopter chase.
The three new clips from 4:44 join the already released “MaNyfaCedGod,” “Moonlight,” “Adnis,” “Kill Jay Z,” “BAM,” “The Story of O.J.” and the title track.
