Rihanna’s 21 year old cousin, Tavon Kaiseen Alleyne, was shot and killed in her native home of Barbados on Tuesday (December 26), just one day after they celebrated Christmas together.
According to Barbados Today, Tavon was shot multiple times by an unidentified man as he was walking near his home in the Saint Michael area of the island.
Alleyne was rushed to a nearby hospital but later died from his injuries. His killer has yet to be caught, though local authorities are calling on anyone who can provide information to come forward.
On Tuesday night (December 26) after her cousin’s death, Rihanna took to Instagram to share a heartfelt post to her cousin with a caption that read, “can’t believe it was just last night that I held you in my arms.” – while also calling for an end to gun violence.
The 29-year-old entertainer followed up with another post to Instagram that shows the true spirit of her late cousin, in a video that sees him walking the streets of Barbados saying “it’s nice to wake up and see all ya brudda’s and sista’s.”
Our thoughts are with Rihanna and her family at this time.
