Las Vegas played host to the annual Electric Daisy Carnival this past weekend (June 16-18) — a three-day electronic music experience featuring artists like Diplo, Yellow Claw, Major Lazer, and many more. Among the who’s who lineup of EDM artists, DJ Khaled was scheduled to bless the audience with his chart-topping brand of uncontrollable hype. But things didn’t go as planned — and his set was eventually cut short after being fraught with technical difficulties.
The rapper, who was scheduled for an hour-long set, instead performed for less than 20 minutes before fans booed him off the stage, chanting for Yellow Claw, the next DJ, to take over. Khaled later on addressed it all on Instagram.
“They Tried to sabotage my sound so many times THEY could not get the sound right on my set,” he wrote. “And i still stood on stage wit no sound and when they got the sound to work they want cut my set short but I still rep for my people anyone else would walk off stage.” Khaled went on to say that, despite the embarrassment, he stayed out there because his fans mean everything to him.
Social media reaction from fans details that Khaled was on the receiving end of boos and was told to “get the fuck off the stage” in one bit of footage from the show. Who knows whether the sound difficulties were intentional or not, but it’s definitely got both Khaled and those who were in attendance more than a bit miffed.
